Discover the fundamentals of beekeeping in a practical, immersive setting designed for beginners and nature enthusiasts. Our five-hour introductory class offers a comprehensive foundation in both theory and hands-on hive work, delivered by experienced practitioners in a real apiary environment.
Unlike many classroom-based courses, ours is grounded in direct, meaningful contact with bees. The session includes two hours of essential beekeeping theory, followed by a practical hive inspection where you’ll learn how to handle frames, identify key features of a colony, and develop confidence working with bees.

Profit from our commercial activities support our therapeutic beekeeping work with asylum seekers, refugees and torture survivors.
Our work in beekeeping goes hand-in-hand with ecological restoration. We are committed to conserving the genetics of the native British black bee (Apis mellifera mellifera), which declined significantly due to imported strains and habitat loss.
We actively support biodiversity by planting a wide range of pollinator-friendly plants and trees—chosen specifically to bloom across seasons and times of day. This includes both night- and day-flowering species, ensuring a continuous food source for the full spectrum of pollinators, from wild, native bees and hoverflies to moths and night flying hornets.
